Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity works closely with hospitals and rehabilitative centres across Ontario to identify, screen and support families whose lives have been turned upside down following a critical medical event that has occurred with their child. For families with modest incomes and no cash reserves, managing the many hidden costs associated with a lengthy hospital stay, can be crippling. From the unexpected medical expenses not covered by OHIP, to the costs of transportation, accommodations, and basic daily needs, our charity helps bridge the gap, giving parents the breathing room they need to focus on what truly matters, their child.
Jennifer Ashleigh Clements was born in 1989 and passed away at just six months old from a degenerative muscular disease. Her family experienced not only the emotional toll of her illness but also the financial strain of extended hospital care. Two years later, they faced the same heartbreaking journey with their second daughter, Danica.
Determined to help other families in similar situations, Norman Clements, their grandfather, founded the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity in 1990. His mission was simple: to support families when love is not enough.
For over 35 years, thanks to generous donors and supporters, the charity has helped over 18,000 seriously ill children across Ontario, easing financial burdens so families can focus on what matters most—caring for their child..
